The Robotics Club teams continued to make progress this week with better designs, more RobotC code, more documentation in their engineering notebooks, and some teams making their first stabs at autonomous operation.
Coming off of last week’s activities, the students were eager to continue improving their robots and see their ideas in action.
All of the WMS Titan Robotics Club teams continued to improve and were a lot of fun to watch.
Robotics Club League
The WMS Titan Robotics Club teams continued where they left off last week in league play. The teams maintained their own responsibility for being in the right place at the right time and again did not miss any matches.

All of the teams had modified their designs and code in some way and were still making last minute adjustments before the robotics league play. It is great to watch them scramble to make one more adjustment before competition begins.

All of the WMS Titan Robotics Club teams improved this week.
Team 5794D continued to find success this week and placed third.
Team 5794B placed fifth, which was a huge jump for them.

With all of the more advanced and more experienced teams we are competing with, it is great to see our brand new program hold it’s own.
Many of the strongest teams in the league are high school students; it is fun to see the middle school teams do well with simpler designs and less parts.

The league did see some better shooting from some of the more experienced teams, as well as the first lift during league competition. The more advanced robots are helping our teams improve rapidly.

Robotics Club Practice
Practice went fast again this week as teams are becoming more ambitious in their designs and more confident in their skills.
Here are this week’s team leaders.
- 5794A – James O.
- 5794B – Dennis K.
- 5794C – Gracie N.
- 5794D – Levi F.

I was happy to announce this week that principal Pam F. found us some funds so that we can compete in a large regional tournament! The students are excited to see other teams from around the state.

With my announcement of our attending the tournament, the students began to look at the next 3 weeks as trying to get ready for that event. They added more to their engineering notebooks and worked hard on design improvements.

I was very excited to see team 5794C take their first stab at writing autonomous functions in their RobotC code. The students eyes lit up to see their robot move across the field without them controlling it.

Robotics Club Fund Raising
The T-Shirt fundraiser has finished and it’s time to order shirts!
Please make sure you fill out the form and have a check to pay for shirts Monday at practice. We want all of our robotics club team members wearing shirts for the tournament!
Valeri D. has been working hard and has sent out information to all parents for the fundraiser. Thanks Valeri!
